Chaired by Dr. Eric Jarvis, the Transcultural Psychiatry Section held an in-depth discussion on the closure of AIM and raised grave concerns about the “integration” rationale advanced by UHN psychiatry leadership, which is viewed as blatantly anti-DEI. Cultural psychiatrists and trainees from across Canada expressed concern and outrage and affirmed their support for the work of the RE-AIM Coalition. Members also discussed the need for the Transcultural Section to champion effective models of care for ethnocultural communities and proposed making this the theme of next year’s Cultural Psychiatry Day.
